"On December 12, 1998, we finally observed BEC in ⁸⁷Rb:

• atomic species: ⁸⁷Rb, |F M_F> = |1 -1>
• trap: double MOT system with a cloverleaf magnetic trap
• initial number of atoms in 'lower' MOT: 2 x 10⁹
• initial number of atoms in magnetic trap: 7 x 10⁸
• loading time: 3 min
• lifetime of magnetic trap: 70s
• evaporation time: 70s
• number of atoms present at Tc: 7 x 10⁶
• T_c = 320 nK
• phase space density: Q = 1.2
