"On December 12, 1998, we finally observed BEC in 87Rb:
- atomic species: 87Rb, |F MF> = |1 -1>
- trap: double MOT system with a cloverleaf magnetic trap
- initial number of atoms in 'lower' MOT: 2 x 109
- initial number of atoms in magnetic trap: 7 x 108
- loading time: 3 min
- lifetime of magnetic trap: 70s
- evaporation time: 70s
- number of atoms present at Tc: 7 x 106
- Tc = 320 nK
- phase space density: Q = 1.2
