In the afternoon of March 19th 2004 we have created the first Bose-Einstein condensate in our new experimental setup. We are working with 87Rb atoms in the F=2, mF =2 hyperfine ground state and employ a magnetic QUIC trap with a field gradient of up to 330 G/cm. The trapping frequencies are 110 Hz and 20 Hz in the radial and axial direction, respectively. Pure condensates of about 6*105 atoms have been obtained.
