Research Fellow - Low Phase Noise - Physics and Astronomy - 902785 - Grade 7
Ultra-precise optical clocks enable a range of new applications. One particular area of interest RF sensing using radars. The research fellow is expected to be the driving force behind the operation and development of our optical clock demonstrator and translation of optical frequencies to microwave domain with ultra low phase noise using Frequency combs. The project is in close collaboration with project partner at the school of Electrical Engineering, and the ability to work across disciplines is expected. The fellow will have access to our state-of-the art labs and will also benefit from our direct link to the UK National Quantum Technology Hub in Sensors and Timing (https://www.quantumsensors.org/news/).
This is a fantastic opportunity to enhance their profile in precision timekeeping and its use for radars. We are looking for some one hardworking and motivated person. Earlier experience with cold atoms/optical clocks/optical cavities and strong interest in electronics is certainly an advantage.
