Postdoctoral Position in Theory of Ultracold Gases

position expired
Helsinki University of Technology (HUT), Finland
There are several postdoc positions available in my group (P. Törmä) at the Helsinki University of Technology (HUT), Finland. The research topic is ultracold gases, especially Fermi gases. Our recent and future areas of interest are field-matter interactions in these gases (e.g. rf-spectroscopy), strongly correlated quantum states and various forms of superfluidity, in particular in optical lattices and fermionic mixtures. We have recently started to apply matrix product state methods in computations and therefore postdocs with related experience/interest are especially welcome.

The group works at the Laboratory of Physics in Department of Engineering Physics and Mathematics at HUT. We are next to the Low Temperature Laboratory famous for its superfluid Helium research. There is a strong nanoscience initiative in the Department of Engineering Physics and Mathematics and in the Low Temperature Laboratory. Since the group is searching for synergies in this new environment there may later be a possibility for the postdoc to work also in projects related to quantum transport in nanostructures.

For recent publications by the group please see here. The group main page can be found here. Note that presently we are at the University of Jyväskylä. I have recently got a professorship at the Helsinki University of Technology and the group will move there 1st of January 2008.

A natural starting date for a postdoc position would be January 1st 2008, but this is completely flexible. There is no deadline for applications, I will consider them until the positions are filled.

If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to ask. The applications containing a list of publications, CV, and the contact information of references should be sent to paivi.torma@jyu.fi
