Postdoctoral position in experimental AMO at the Technion

position expired
Haifa Israel IL

The degenerate Fermi gases group at the Technion has an opening for an experimental postdoctoral fellow position available immediately. The group studies the quantum many-body behavior of strongly-interacting Fermi gases. The successful candidate will lead the research on a newly built apparatus where we aim to employ single fermionic atoms in micro-optical traps to perform quantum computation and quantum simulation of fermionic lattice models. The postdoc is expected to work together with and guide two other graduate students. The candidate should hold a Ph.D. degree and have extensive experience in relevant lab work. The initial appointment is for one year with the possibility for an extension to another one or two years. The salary is set by the Technion and is currently around 144,000 ILS (~$40,000) per year. Eligible candidates will also be nominated for internal and external fellowships. The Technion is situated in Haifa, a lively city nestled on the Carmel Mountain on the shores of the Mediterranean sea. The cost of living in Haifa is quite affordable, with an average expenditure on renting an apartment being less than third of the fellowship.

To apply, please send a CV and contact information for several references to Prof. Yoav Sagi at yoavsagi@technion.ac.il. The starting date of the position is flexible, and candidates will be interviewed on a rolling basis until the position is filled.
