Postdoc: Quantum information with atom chips and Rydberg atoms

position expired
University of Amsterdam
A two-year postdoc position is available in the group Quantum Gases and Quantum Information at the University of Amsterdam.

We have recently realized a two-dimensional array of microtraps on a magnetic-film atom chip [1,2]. This novel system holds great promise as a future quantum information platform. The postdoc is expected to push this project towards a quantum information register. More specifically we have started to explore the use of Rydberg atoms on a chip for quantum information processing and readout. This project builds on the existing atom-chip expertise [1-3] in the groups of dr. R. Spreeuw and dr. N.J. van Druten and the Rydberg expertise [4] of prof. H.B. van Linden van den Heuvell.

We are looking for a postdoc with strong experimental skills and a solid theoretical background, who works well in a team and is also capable of supervising PhD students. Fabrication facilities for the atom chips are available both locally and on the national level.

Applicants should send:
- a letter stating their research interest and motivation
- their curriculum vitae
- names and email contacts of two or three references
by email to atomchips "AT" science.uva.nl

You will be employed by the FOM-foundation. Your salary will be up to a maximum of 3,546 euro gross per month, depending on your level of experience. For further details or questions please contact one of the group leaders mentioned above.
