Postdoc position: Experiments on quantum gases in a ring trap

A postdoctoral position in ultracold atomic gases is available at Laboratoire de physique des lasers (LPL) in Villetaneuse, Paris 13 (Paris North) University, starting September 2016 or later, to work in the BEC group led by Hélène Perrin. Our group is doing experimental research on quantum gases in low dimensions. At LPL, the two ultra cold atom groups gather about twenty people, include four experiments and a theory group. We are member of IFRAF, a world-leading joint Institute gathering all the groups in Paris area in the field of ultra cold atoms.
The position is funded for one year by the French National Research Agency (ANR) and will focus on the study of ultracold atoms on a ring trap. The research will be performed in close contact with the theory team led by Anna Minguzzi and Frank Hekking at Laboratoire de physique et modélisation des milieux condensés (LPMMC, Grenoble).
The successful candidate will have a PhD in experimental physics, with a solid training in cold atom physics, lasers and optics. Experimental skills in electronics, instrumentation, and data analysis are valuable. A previous experience with spatial light modulator based on liquid crystals (LCOS-SLM) is appreciated. The successful candidate will work in close collaboration with a research engineer and a PhD student.
