Post-Doctoral position: Single atom detection of correlated quantum states
position expired
Institut d'Optique, Palaiseau (Paris area), France
The project aims at studying many-body quantum states in optical lattices through a direct and extensive measurement of atom-atom correlation functions in momentum space. Based on the special properties of metastable He atoms, the apparatus will allow the innovative characterization of three-dimensional correlation functions in momentum space using a detector sensitive at the single-atom level. To do so, a dedicated and versatile experimental apparatus for metastable He atoms is currently being built. The recruited researcher will participate to completing the building of the apparatus and she/he will pursue with experimental measurements. The project lies at the forefront of modern research in both Ultracold Atoms and Condensed-Matter Physics and includes
close collaboration with theory groups in the Paris area.
