Post-Doc Physics-Cold Atoms, theory. Krakow, Poland

position expired
Krakow, Poland
A postdoctoral position in the research area of theoretical quantum optics/cold atoms/atomic physics/condensed matter to a well-qualified, highly motivated and dynamic young scientist who wishes to enhance his/her scientific career in a stimulating surroundings. The successful candidate will be member of the research group led by Prof. Jakub Zakrzewski at Marian Smoluchowski Institute of Physics, Jagiellonian University. She/he will be involved in the research activities (current and emerging) within the scope of the EU FET-ProActive project QUIC ("QUantum Insulators and Conductors", starting 2015) on various aspects of quantum simulators theory of insulating systems (Anderson localization, many body localization, Mott insulators, band insulators, quantum Hall insulators, topological insulators), and conducting systems (superconductivity of various type, supesolids, exotic superfluids, exotic metals). The successful candidates will participate in the theoretical work on physics of Anderson and many body localization, superfluid-insulator transitions and strongly correlated phases, and topological and exotic phases in gauge fields and disorder. 12 months expandable to 36 months total. Preferred starting date 1 September 2015
