Lecturer/Senior Lecturer in Theoretical Quantum Atom Optics (tenured)

position expired
University of Queensland, Brisbane, Australia
Excellent opportunity for innovative researcher to lead a theoretical program in quantum atom optics and to teach undergraduate and postgraduate courses.

The School of Physical Sciences seeks to appoint a Lecturer (Level B)/Senior Lecturer (Level C) in Theoretical Quantum Atom Optics (tenurable). The interdisciplinary field of quantum atom optics (QAO) has formed at the intersection of atomic, molecular and optical physics, condensed matter physics, and computational physics. The field is driven by an unprecedented level of experimental control of degenerate Bose and Fermi gas systems with a well-defined theoretical basis in quantum many-body theory.

The role: The successful appointee must be an independent and innovative researcher and will lead a theoretical program in quantum atom optics. This should complement the existing research program in quantum atom optics at the University of Queensland (www.physics.uq.edu.au/BEC/) which forms a theory node of the ARC Centre for Excellence in Quantum Atom Optics (www.acqao.org). The School of Physical Sciences also hosts an experimental atom optics and Bose-Einstein condensation group (www.physics.uq.edu.au/atomoptics), Quantum Information and Quantum Computation programs, as well as a number of other activities within the newly established Quantum Science Laboratory. The appointee will be an inspiring teacher of both undergraduate and postgraduate students in the School of Physical Sciences and will perform research, administrative and other activities associated with the School and its research activities.
