The Department of Physics and Astronomy at the University of California Los Angeles solicits applications for a faculty position at any level in the general area of Experimental Quantum Atomic and Optical Physics. Research areas of interest include: ion and atom trapping, ultra-stabilized lasers, laser cooling, quantum information and entanglement, interface between quantum optics and quantum micromechanical systems. Candidates with different experimental perspectives in fundamental quantum optics are also encouraged to apply. The successful candidate will have the potential to interact with scientists and engineers across a wide spectrum of disciplines at UCLA, to conduct interdisciplinary research, to develop new and emerging areas and to help develop new interdisciplinary initiatives. State-of-the-art clean rooms and equipment for nano-fabrication are accessible in the School of Engineering and Applied Sciences and the recently dedicated California Nano Systems Institute on campus.
