Assistant Professor of Physics (Theoretical AMO/QISE Physics)
The Department of Physics at William & Mary, a public university of the Commonwealth of Virginia, seeks applications for a tenure track position at the Assistant Professor level in theoretical Atomic Molecular and Optical/Quantum Information Science and Engineering (AMO/QISE) physics. Appointment will begin August 10, 2024.
Duties include research, teaching, and service to the University. The applicant is expected to establish and maintain a vibrant research program that inspires a highly motivated undergraduate and graduate student body. Duties include advising Ph.D students as well as mentoring undergraduate research and senior capstone projects. The department currently has 26 active faculty of which 3 faculty members are in experimental AMO/QISE physics. The successful candidate’s research will interface with existing William & Mary physics research programs. Teaching expectation is the traditional 1-1 load for a research university. Successful applicants must possess the skills to teach compelling courses in undergraduate and graduate physics and other lecture and seminar-style courses.
