Vortex motion from laboratory to the stars is an international conference organized as part of the European COST Action CA24139 – SCALES, under Working Group WG1: Smallest Scales – Vortex Dynamics And Dissipation and Working Group WG3: Macroscopic Scales - Neutron Stars And Their Laboratory Analogues. The conference will take place from April 20-24, 2026, at the Institute of Physics, Polish Academy of Sciences in Warsaw, Poland.
This event brings together three distinct research communities working on closely related phenomena: superfluidity in helium, ultracold quantum gases, and neutron star physics. By bridging the gap from laboratory experiments to astrophysical observations, the conference aims to foster cross-disciplinary collaboration and exchange of ideas on vortex dynamics, dissipation mechanisms, and superfluid behavior across vastly different scales.
The program includes invited talks, contributed presentations, and discussions on the fundamental physics of vortices, quantum turbulence, and superfluidity in extreme environments. The conference will provide opportunities to identify common theoretical frameworks and experimental approaches across these different research areas.
