QUEST 2005 is a small meeting in the above areas which aims at bringing experts in different sub-disciplines together to provide a picture of the present state-of-the-art and to identify future challenges as well as possible ways to overcome them. The format emphasizes discussion with some formal review and related talks as appropriate. The focus of QUEST 2005 will be on two of the disciplines at the forefront of quantum technology: quantum and atomic optics and condensed matter physics. Topics which deal with the interaction of these fields will be particularly emphasized. The first two days will concentrate on condensed matter and the next two on quantum and atomic optics.
