New Trends in Quantum Matter With Cold Atoms and Molecules

The behavior of cold atoms and molecules is largely ruled by quantum phenomena. Representative for many other fields of physics and concerned by some of the most fundamental aspects of quantum mechanics, studies of many body phenomena with quantum matter have seen a growing interest in recent years.

The São Paulo School of Advanced Science organizes a graduate school on NEW TRENDS IN QUANTUM MATTER WITH COLD ATOMS AND MOLECULES at the Instituto de Física of São Carlos from 4. to 14. of April 2011. The school aims at bringing together senior scientists of international reputation, graduate students as well as young and postdoctoral researchers from Brazil and other countries engaged in the physics of cold atoms and molecules. The school will provide an ideal forum for fruitful and productive interactions among the participants and foster future scientific exchange and international collaborations.

This School is an initiative of the FAPESP (Fundação de Apoio à Pesquisa do Estado de São Paulo) together with the BMBF (German Federal Ministry of Education and Research) on the occasion of the Brazilian-German Year of Science, Technology, and Innovation 2010/2011. Participating students and scientists are entitled to financial support from the school.
