EGAS, the European Group on Atomic Systems (formerly European Group for Atomic Spectroscopy) is a section of the Atomic, Molecular and Optical Physics Division of the European Physical Society. The aim of EGAS is to maintain regular contact between groups and individuals from different countries working on atomic systems and related fields. EGAS ensures that these contacts continue to develop by providing a annual conference of high scientific quality, minimum cost, and participation by many young people as well as their senior colleagues. The conference programme consists of invited plenary talks, contributed talks and poster sessions.

The 41st conference in the series will be organized by the Gdansk University of Technology and University of Gdansk in Gdansk, July 8 - 11, 2009.

The 41st EGAS conference is recognized by the European Physical Society as an Europhysics Conference.
