71st Scottish Universities Summer School in Physics (SUSSP71): Frontiers in Quantum Dynamics and Quantum Optics

We are delighted to announce SUSSP71, the 71st Scottish Universities Summer School in Physics, whose topic is Frontiers in Quantum Dynamics and Quantum Optics. The School will be organised at the University of Strathclyde and held in the University's new Technology and Innovation Centre, in Glasgow, Scotland, from July 21st to August 2nd 2015.

We have assembled a list of world-leading theorists and experimentalists from the fields of quantum optics and quantum many-body systems, working with optical, atomic and molecular quantum systems, to lecture at the School:

  • Sir Peter Knight
  • Peter Zoller
  • Phillipe Grangier
  • Gerd Leuchs
  • Ed Hinds
  • Howard Carmichael
  • Ferdinand Schmidt-Kaler
  • Miles Padgett
  • Leticia Taruell
  • Randy Hulet
  • Giovanna Morigi
  • Joachim Brand

All graduate students and postdocs in relevant areas of Physics are invited to apply to attend the School, a key feature of which will be the opportunity to interact not only with the lecturers, but to develop a lasting network of research relationships between peers. A full programme of lectures, poster sessions and a social programme will be provided for the duration of the School.

The School is being organised under the umbrella of Scottish Universities Summer Schools in Physics (SUSSP - http://www.sussp.ac.uk/). SUSSP was established in 1960 by the four ancient Scottish Universities to contribute to the dissemination of advanced knowledge (in Physics) and the formation of contacts among scientists from different countries through the setting up of a series of annual summer schools of the highest international standard.

Applications are now open and both the online application form and further information are available at http://sussp71.phys.strath.ac.uk/. We hope to provide significant bursaries to enable as many applicants as possible to attend SUSSP71. The deadline for applications eligible for bursaries is March 23rd 2015.
