Post-doctoral positions in experimental AMO physics

Durham, UK

The Atomic and Molecular Physics research group at Durham University is seeking to appoint several highly motivated postdoctoral researchers to investigate ultracold gases of polar molecules. The positions are part of a major new five-year research grant focused on the development of Quantum Science with Ultracold Molecules (QSUM). The research will build upon our recent success in creating ultracold RbCs molecules in the rovibrational ground state and, in collaboration with leading theorists, will seek to develop a deeper understanding of dipolar interactions in optical lattices and tweezer arrays. We will also extend our experimental expertise to other molecular species, such as KCs and CsYb. The ultimate goal of the research is to realise a quantum simulator using ultracold polar molecules.

Salary will be on the standard UK system and commensurate with experience.

Prospective candidates should:

- have a PhD in experimental atomic physics

- have a clear record of achievement in atomic physics research at the highest level, specifically in the production and manipulation of ultracold atomic and molecular gases

- have a track record of high-impact publications and presentations at international conferences

- have excellent communication skills and an aptitude for working within a team

For further information and details of how to apply, please send a covering letter and CV to Prof. Simon Cornish -
