We investigate the dynamics and control of ultracold atoms. Recent lines of interest are - The atom diode: one way laser barriers for atomic motion - Shortcuts to adiabaticity: methods to accelerate expansions, transport and internal state manipulations without final excitations. - Diffraction in time: a phenomenon analogous to diffraction of light but due to time-dependent obstacles and slits. It will be of increasing importance in cold atom dynamics and applications such as the atom laser, time of flight and ultrashort pulses techniques.
