Probing and Understanding Exotic Superconductors and Superfluids
27 Oct 2014 - 31 Oct 2014
Abdus Salam International Centre for Theoretical Physics, Trieste (Italy)
DEADLINE FOR APPLICATIONS: 7 SEPTEMBER 2014 (extended)
This activity is organized by Massimo Capone (CNR-IOM and SISSA), Antoine Georges (École Polytechnique and Collège de France), Dirk Van der Marel (University of Geneva), Stefano Giorgini (University of Trento), Rudolf Grimm (University of Innsbruck and IQOQI), Sebastiano Pilati (ICTP, local organizer), Vladimir Kravtsov (ICTP, local organizer)
SPONSORS: ICTP, ERC Grant SUPERBAD, IOM-CNR, ICAM/NSF, BEC Center (University of Trento)
This Workshop is meant to showcase several new approaches to the experimental and theoretical understanding of superconductors and superfluids, comparing solid-state and ultracold-atoms advances with the aim of a cross-fertilization between the two fields. It will feature topics that are rapidly developing, ranging from novel (time-resolved and k-resolved) optical spectroscopies to new trapping and imaging methods for ultracold gases, with the unifying contribution of different theoretical approaches, such as Dynamical Mean-Field theory, Diagrammatic and Quantum Monte Carlo methods. Special attention will be devoted to the exotic superfluid and superconducting states which arise from the interplay between pairing, correlations, disorder and reduced dimensionality.
CALL FOR CONTRIBUTIONS/POSTERS:
Besides talks given by invited speakers, two poster sessions will be organized. All participants are invited to submit a research abstract. A limited number of contributions will be selected for short oral presentations or flash talks (3 minutes) to advertise the content of the poster. THERE IS NO CONFERENCE FEE.
