Quo vadis Bose-Einstein condensation?

02 Aug 2010 - 20 Aug 2010
Dresden, Germany

After the first Bose-Einstein condensates from dilute atomic vapors have been realized 15 years ago, research on ultracold quantum gases has matured into an immensely active and highly competitive field of contemporary physics. Now that also fermionic atoms have come into focus, an interdisciplinary community is forming itself on the borderlines between atomic and molecular physics, quantum optics, and many-body physics. The event "Quo vadis Bose-Einstein condensation?" will provide a coherent review of different facets of this rapidly evolving subject and outline future directions, bringing together younger scientists and leading researchers first in a two-weeks summer school (August 2-13), and then in an international workshop (August 16-20).
